Upper Lonsdale is an area of North Vancouver which is both in the City of North Vancouver as well as the District of North Vancouver. The first 5 blocks of Upper Lonsdale up Lonsdale Avenue are part of the City of North Vancouver, whereas the blocks 29th Street to Rockland belongs to the District of North Vancouver. Upper Lonsdale is more residential than Central or Lower Lonsdale, though there are a couple of blocks which have primarily stores and services. The peak of Lonsdale Avenue sits at a height of 850 feet above sea level, so the views from homes up there are very impressive. The range of architecture, types and ages of homes in Upper Lonsdale varies tremendously. The price ranges in Upper Lonsdale also vary considerably too. Lots can range from the 30 foot frontages to the large 100 foot frontages. Some historical homes of heritage still remain whilst many new apartment blocks and modern contemporary homes are also situated in Upper Lonsdale. There are three elementary schools (Braemar, Carson, and Carisbrook), one French Immersion school (Ecole Andre Piolat), and one Junior High School (Carson Graham Secondary) located in Upper Lonsdale.
