Princess Park are of North Vancouver was developed over the last fifty years or so. Princess Park is a small area built around the famous Princess Park with its trails for dog walking, kids playground, tennis courts, and outdoor pool. Originally Princess park was called Princess Pool when in the 1950s the creek was dammed up with a concrete spillway. This created a large swimming area. The water was murky and cold but as there were no real alternatives for swimming in the summer the crowds flocked to bathe in this outdoor pool. Princess Park area has the atmosphere of single family homes with many trees in the area. It is still possible to find some original architecture with the 100 foot frontages in Princess Park. As this is a very small area there are no schools situated there. However, the closest schools are in the Lynn Valley and Lonsdale areas.
