CAPILANO HIGHLANDS HOUSES FOR SALE

Capilano Highlands was developed in the 1930s after the Lions Gate Bridge was completed. Originally this area of North Vancouver was developed so that returning servicemen could live there affordably. In the late 1940’s the first stores opened including a restaurant and a pharmacy. In the 1950’s Capilano Highlands continued to be developed and as it grew in size a fire station, a library (since relocated) and a police office were opened. Today, Capilano Highlands is one of the most sought after areas of North Vancouver. Single level ranchers as well as post & beam houses are dotted around. Many of these older homes, within the last few years, have been replaces with larger homes ranging from 3000 to 5000 square feet. At the heart of Capilano Highlands is the desirable neighbourhood Edgemont Village. In true village style, Edgemont Village has the small stores, restaurants and coffee shops and over seventy businesses, which makes this area so in demand. In the summer there are frequent public concerts, celebrations and community days in Edgemont Village. One of the most famous of these is the ``Wild Lights Lantern Festival`` hosted in August. Capilano Highlands is close to many of the North Shore`s attractions and activities. These include Grouse Mountain for hiking and skiing, Capilano River Regional Park and the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
