Calverhall was developed after the war with many bungalows having views of the Burrard Inlet and to the southeast. More recently, Calverhall became famous for making movies and television programs because of the North Shore Studios, formerly known as the Lionsgate Studio. Many productions including X-Files, Scary Movie 3 & 4 and Dark Angel were produced here. Park and Tilford Gardens is a must see feature of this area with 3 acres of 8 themed gardens. The gardens were created in 1969 and contains over 300 plants in 24 varieties. In 1988 The Park and Tilford Shopping centre which was built. Park and Tilford shopping centre has several cinemas, Save-on-foods and stores including Starbucks, Blockbuster video and White Spot. To the south of Calverhall there is a commercial zone which contains a number of businesses, a container port and a rail yard.
