Braemar was first developed in the mid eighties with a view to designing an area of luxury mountainside homes with great views to the Southeast. The area is still being developed with new homes being built and some lots still coming up for sale. Because this is a relatively new sub-area of the district of North Vancouver the sale prices are high and the footprint size of the homes being built on these lots is large with an average floor area being 4490 square feet. Most homes in Braemar are architect designed and being a modern development area many of the lots are small in comparison to the size of the houses built on them. However, the luxury price tag can often include large houses on large half acre lots too. There are no schools in Braemar though the nearest high schools are in Lynn Valley (Argyle Senior Secondary) and nearest Elementary schools are located in Upper Lonsdale (Carisbrooke Elementary).
