The Boulevard was developed in the early1900s with the original clearing of Grand Boulevard starting in 1906. The developers hailed the creation of The Boulevard as being to North Vancouver what the Champs Elysees is to Paris. The original developers built it with the intention of it being the Burrard Inlet’s prime residential neighbourhood. Grand Boulevard was originally built to be one mile long and 346 feet wide. It is also thought that it was built as a large ‘firebreak’ as originally it was a large clearing in the forest. Today Boulevard is a quiet family part of the City of North Vancouver. Much real estate in Boulevard offers lovely views of the Burrard Inlet, the mountains and of downtown Vancouver. It retains many of its original character and historical homes many of which have been restored and updated. There are two elementary schools (Brooksbank Elementary and Queensbury Elementary) and one Senior Secondary School (Sutherland Senior Secondary).
